The 2026 Inter-University GenAI Hackathon for the SDGs has officially come to a phenomenal close.
Over a high-intensity 5-week span, more than 650 brilliant minds from Hong Kong’s eight UGC-funded universities pushed the boundaries of generative AI to solve critical sustainability and urban challenges.
We are proud to share that we have received over 140 team submissions this year, with 40 advancing to the finals and 18 teams emerging as winners. The creativity, ingenuity, and collaborative spirit of the teams were truly inspiring.
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to our judges, organising committees and mentors for your unwavering support, and for providing invaluable incubation pathways to our wonderful students.
Thank you everyone for shaping the future of AI for social good. Let’s keep hacking towards a more sustainable future!
